mochasims:

Devin: Good morning.

Kasim: Good morning.
He rubbed the sleep from one eye while looking at her through the other. A lazy grin spread across his face as he recalled their night together.
Kasim: You wanna do it again?
Devin returned the smile. She absolutely wanted to do it again! However, there were more pressing matters at hand.
Devin: We have to get up. It’s almost check out time.
He turned to look at the clock on the night stand.
Kasim: Damn. I’m not ready to get up. You want to stay another night?
Devin: Huh?
She hesitated to consider his suggestion and quickly decided it was impossible.
Devin: I can’t do that.
Kasim: Why?
Devin: Because my children and Trina are expecting me back home today.

Kasim: So call them and tell them you’ll be home tomorrow. You always talk about how cool Trina is. She won’t mind if they spend one more night.
Devin: Kasim, it’s not that simple. I can’t just dump three children on people when the mood strikes.
Kasim: It’s only one more night and you said she’s like family. At least call her. The worst she can say is ‘no.’
Devin: You’re really serious?
Kasim: I’m dead serious. I don’t want to get up. This bed is  comfortable as hell; you’re lying next to me looking all sexy.
He reached out and caressed her breasts until they hardened in response to his touch.
Kasim: C’mon, Devin. Hang out with me one more night. Pleeeease.
Devin: You’re killing me. I don’t have anything to wear. I only brought a change of underwear, since I thought we were going home this morning.
Kasim: There’s a shop downstairs in the hotel. I’ll get you something to wear.

Knowing his politics when it came to “tricking” on women, Devin was surprised he offered to buy her an outfit. He seemed to have it all figured out and since the idea of spending another night with him was very appealing, she made the call to Trina. As always, Trina came through for Devin.
Devin: I guess you can call the front desk to let them know we’re staying.
Kasim called the front desk, and then room service.

During breakfast, when Kasim’s sister, Khadijah called, he didn’t answer  the phone figuring he could call her back later on. When he and Devin headed to the shower, she called again. And again he ignored the call.
When she called a third time, he knew he had to answer.
Kasim: What’s up, Khadijah? What’s wrong?

When he heard the reason for her call he rolled his eyes.
Kasim: Here we go again. So what did you do to make him do that? …. Don’t get mad at me. I just asked a question… Ok, so what do you want me to do about it?… Come over there when?… I can’t go over there now. I’m busy… Busy doing what I’m doing… I don’t know what to tell you. I can’t go to your house right now… Why don’t you leave? Go stay the night with mommy or Keisha. Or better yet, why don’t you call Chris?
Kasim smiled and held the phone away from his air while Khadija yelled at him. He knew she wouldn’t like him telling her to call Chris.
Kasim: Are you finished?… I’m not going to your house today, so I’ll check on you tomorrow… You can wait until tomorrow… Then leave!… Well, if you don’t want to leave it must not be that serious. I’m busy, Khadijah. I gotta go. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
He ended the call and turned off the ringer.
Devin: Is everything ok?
Kasim: Yeah. That’s just my sister, arguing with her man again and trying to drag me into it, as usual. That shit is not happening today. I got much better things to do.
He reached for Devin, wanting to finish where they left off before the phone call, but she stopped him.
Devin: That’s your sister. It could be serious. Are you sure you don’t want to go check on her?
Kasim: Trust me - it’s not serious. I’ve gone through it enough with both of my sisters to know when it’s serious. This guy she’s with ain’t gonna do nothing to her. She’s just calling me to get under his skin. They’ll make up within the next hour.

Warming up to the subject - because he loved complaining about his sisters to anyone that would listen - Kasim explained their history. He told Devin about the way they tortured him as a child, their scandalous antics as adults, and how they always tried to use him to keep the idiot men they ran through in check.
When he finished, Devin offered a rueful smile.
Devin: I can relate. My sister’s a trip too.
Kasim: Y’all don’t get along? You never talk about her. Actually, you never talk about anyone in your family, besides your kids.
When Devin looked away uncomfortably, he assumed he hit a sore spot and quickly tried to make amends.
Kasim: I’m sorry. You don’t have to talk about them if you don’t want to.
Devin looked at him for a few seconds trying to decide if she was ready to share that part of her life with him. It was a story that had dominated the Bridgeport media for weeks, and she and her family had been forced to endure public opinion and all the speculation surrounding it. Besides her family, the only person she ever discussed it with was Jay. She decided to tell Kasim, because she felt that after sharing her body with him, she might as well put all her cards on the table and share this too. She swallowed hard and quickly said the words before she lost her nerve.
Devin: My mother’s in jail.

That was the last thing Kasim expected to hear. It was one thing hearing that her kid’s father was incarcerated, but her mother too! He didn’t want to seem judgmental, but it was hard not to give her the side eye.
Kasim: In jail for what?
She looked at him and hesitated again, before averting her eyes and mumbling her response.
Devin: She killed her boyfriend.
Kasim blinked and his eyes opened even wider. She was locked up for murder?!
Kasim: Why? Was he abusing her?Devin: No.
There was another long pause before she continued.
Devin: She caught him in bed with my sister.
Kasim: Damn. Isn’t your sister younger than you? How old was she?
Devin: Almost 18.
Kasim: Almost 18? So basically he molested her?

Devin: My mother felt that way. I mean… Technically it was statutory rape because she was a minor, but I dunno… I question a lot about that whole situation.
Kasim: Like what?
Instead of responding directly to his question, she sat up and told him the story to let him form his own opinion.
Devin: My mother was about 15 years older than him. She was in her late 30’s and he was only 23 or 24 when they met. When she moved him in, I was already living with Jay. I never liked him and didn’t agree with my mom moving him in, but it was her house and there wasn’t much that I could say. He was a bum. He never worked or contributed to anything. He just mooched off my mom the whole time they were together.
My sister wasn’t doing right either. She had been out of control ever since our parents divorced. She was cutting school, getting high and she was fighting with my mother all the time. It put a strain on our relationship, because I didn’t like how she was disrespecting my mother. I guess she saw my mother’s boyfriend as her only ally, because every time I visited the two of them would be posted up on the couch, laughing, joking, watching tv or playing video games. They always gave off a weird vibe, but I never said anything to my mother about it. The day when it happened, my mother came home from work early. They were in my sister’s bed and so caught up in each other that they didn’t hear her come in. My mother didn’t say a word, she just went to her bedroom and got his gun.
Choking up from the memory, Devin dropped her head into her hands. Kasim didn’t know what to do or say, so he kept quiet and rubbed her back reassuringly. Once she was able to compose herself. she continued.
Devon: After she shot him, she called 911 and then she called me. By the time I got to the house, she was already handcuffed and in the back of the police car. My sister was covered in blood and hysterical, and the paramedics were taking him out on a stretcher. When they rolled him past me, he looked me dead in my face and said ‘She started it. She wanted me to do it.’ He died on the way to the hospital. And after that my sister disappeared. We haven’t seen her since.

Meanwhile, someone visits the maternity ward of a hospital not too far from St. Claire.

Rags to Riches Challenge

Your sim has just run away from something; home? work? a bad relationship? You decide. They find themselves in a new town, with only a small backpack, $100 and a sleeping bag/tent. They are homeless, and with only a small amount of money they need to start working to stop themselves from going broke and starving to death. The challenge is to earn as much money as possible without having a paid job.

The Rules:

When your sims arrives in town, move them into an empty lot. Then buy them a backpack and a sleeping bag/tent. Then using the ‘familyfunds’ cheat, set their family funds to $100.
Your sim can earn their money in any way the want, other than actually getting a paid job.
You cannot use any money cheats to buy skill items, so your sim must either learn skills from the library or doing tasks, or they earn the money to buy skill items.
Your sim can use any of the towns facilities, such as the pool or the gym to shower and go to the bathroom. If they make friends they can also use the bathroom at their friends house.
Your sim CANNOT move in with another sim. They must make all their money on their own. If they get married they can keep the money the other sim brings, but they cannot move into the other sims house.
When your sim has enough money you can start buidling a house of the empty lot they own.
Your sim can get food in any way they want, whether its eating contests at the festival lots or harvesting food from community gardens. If they have the money they can buy food or eat out.

Your Sim:

You can pick any traits for you sim, but it will be useful if they have traits which will help them, such as ‘green-thumb’ or ‘gatherer’ or ‘natural cook’.
Your sim can be any gender, age, race, life form… literally anything.
Their lifetime wish can be anything you want it to be, and obviously one of the goals is to get them their lifetime wish.

The Goal:

The main goal of this challenge is to take your sim from broke and homeless to having a beautiful house, with plenty of money and food, without them ever having to work a job.
You can set other goals along the way, such as reaching your sims lifetime wish, or earning a certain amount of money, or raising a child with very little money.
If you do choose to try this challenge, you can tag your posts with “Rags2Riches” or “rags to riches challenge” so other people who are doing the challenge (probably just myself lol) can see how your sim is progressing.
Happy simming!
